Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve
Wicken Fen provides a window on a 'lost landscape' - a unique remnant of un-drained fenland which once covered the vast lowlands of East Anglia.
We offer a wide range of guided walks some of which can be adapted to best meet your group's requirements. Alternatively, call into the Tourist Information Centre where we stock a wide range of walking leaflets and then choose your own self-guided walk. We particularly recommend the Eel Trail, which is a circular, way marked route which will ensure you see the best of Ely and learn about these slippery creatures and their importance to Ely along the way.

Discover and explore the grounds of the largest groups of medieval monastic buildings still in use within Western Europe and listen to tales of monks and royalty.
The prosperous city of Ely was an island until steam power drained the surrounding fenlands in the early 1800s, creating a flat, reed-covered region of rich farmland. Ely derives it name from the Isle of Ely when the city was surrounded by water. Today, Ely remains proud of its eel-inspired heritage as you will see as you are guided around this public art trail.
