Make it with Marmalade, Half-day ‘Have-a-Go’ at Drypoint Etching workshop
In our ‘HAVE-A-GO’ at Drypoint workshop you will learn how to design and print at least one etching of your own to take home. Drypoint etching is an Intaglio printmaking process that involves cutting into the surface of a plate with an etching needle. This raises a burr, which holds the ink after the rest of the plate has been wiped clean. Prints produced from this process have a soft-edged line which is appealing to those who like to achieve fine detail in their work. However, Drypoint etching can also be used to create amazing and effective graphic images.
During the workshop you will learn how to use our tools and equipment with confidence and have time to practice and experiment with textures to get different effects in your prints. For those with previous Drypoint etching experience, we are happy to help you refresh your skills in this session, and you are welcome to spend the time working on your own project. All materials are provided at our workshops, along with tea, coffee and homemade refreshments. Young people over 16 years old are very welcome if they bring an adult with them.
Here’s what Maggie Miller, one of our students said about her workshop with us “The relaxed atmosphere was fun to learn in and it was good to be creative with like-minded people. We were guided through the various stages of printmaking with helpful suggestions to improve our work. A most enjoyable course that I would recommend to those thinking of trying it.”
