Make it with Marmalade Introduction to Printmaking
Is Printmaking for you? Come and find out at our friendly, hands-on, introductory workshop day for people who have no experience, but would like to try both Intaglio and Relief printmaking techniques in one session. To help you decide, here’s what one of our students, Pauline said about her workshop experience “It has been fantastic to learn the beginnings of a new process and I know that I would love to learn more. The venue, the people and the teaching all made for a really special experience for me.” You will work in a small group at Marmalade, with lots of one-to-one tuition designed to help you decide what direction you might like to pursue as a printmaker in the future. By the end of the workshop, you will have an understanding of printmaking as an art form, be comfortable using our printmaking equipment and will have designed and produced a Drypoint Etching and a Linocut print yourself. Young people over 16 years old are very welcome if they bring an adult with them. All materials are provided for your workshop, along with tea, coffee and homemade cakes or biscuits. You will need to bring your own lunch though, which you are welcome to enjoy in the studio or as a picnic in our lovely garden, if the weather is fine. We also provide aprons for you to wear but still recommend that you don’t wear your best clothes when you visit us, as printmaking can be a bit messy. Marmalade Print Studio is on good transport links. We have a bus stop outside the studio for the 112 service between Ely and Newmarket, run by Stephensons buses and a bus stop for the T5 service run by A2B buses from Cambridge to Soham rail station, which passes through Fordham and Burwell. There are also trains from Ely to Soham and the rail station is a ten minute walk away. Free car parking is also available on Pratt Street and at two local car parks if you are driving to us.
