Sketchbook Wednesday Club
Founded in 2021 by local artist Laura Pearson-Clark (Art in the Burrow), this club was designed as a creative remedy to bring people together for relaxed, supportive sketchbook sessions. It is open to all skill levels, especially beginners. It generally runs on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. It also includes occasional Saturday daytime end-of-term field trips. Sessions alternate depending on the season.
Winter sessions take place inside the Kempen Room at The Maltings, while warmer months see the group meeting outdoors at the Jubilee Gardens Bandstand. Each month features a unique theme (such as costumed life drawing, nature focus, or collage) and explores different mediums like metallics, watercolours or posca pens. Basic materials are provided to borrow, and starter sketchbooks are available to purchase.
£16 per individual session, with discounts available for termly (£42) or annual (£115) memberships Space must be reserved in advance by emailing artintheburrow@gmail.com or visiting the official Sketchbook Wednesday Club Facebook Group or Instagram Profile.
