Fordham Abbey open garden
The Japanese owners fell in love with the magical gardens of Fordham Abbey created by the Lewin-Smith family who lived here since 1957. The family continue to restore the gardens and their features: Japanese garden created in the traditional ‘stroll’ style, with water, bridge and meandering paths guiding the visitor through borders and planting. Discover the Shinto shrine at its heart, dedicated to the sake gods. A fine selection of trees and maples at their autumn peak. Restored Victorian greenhouse in walled garden, orchard, mature trees and parkland beyond. Refreshments.
