Wild Folk and the Illuminating Alchemy of Glass, an online talk with Tamsin Abbott

Stained glass artist Tamsin Abbott shares her personal inspirations and techniques behind her enchanting work, with a particular focus on the making of Wild Folk, her book created with Jackie Morris. Discover how folklore, landscape and fairytale are transformed into luminous stained glass through painting, sgraffito and engraving. In this online talk, Tamsin will offer a fascinating insight into her creative process and the magic of this unique medium. Having learnt the basics at an evening class, Tamsin Abbott has been creating painted stained glass from her Herefordshire home for almost 25 years, inspired by British landscape, folklore, fairytale and the interconnectedness of these. Her work brings together the earthly and spiritual, everyday and otherworldly, with glass providing the perfect medium for her storytelling. Her work is held in the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic and the Museum of British Folklore, and is collected internationally. She has exhibited at the British Glass Biennale and featured on BBC’s Countryfile and in numerous national publications. This talk will be delivered by Zoom. Talks typically last around 45 minutes, with time for questions with the speaker afterwards. The link will be emailed to ticket holders prior to the event. A link will be shared after the event, so those not able to join us live can still attend. Please book online at www.stainedglassmuseum.com/whatson
