All things bright and beautiful

Easter, and the hectic four-day weekend, is now behind us and the dust begins to settle here at Visit Ely.

There is always a certain something in the air once Easter weekend reaches us. It’s a sense of renewal and reinvigoration. The City begins to bloom, the Cathedral is bathed in sunshine and the wonderful sight of families, couples, friends and individuals enjoying picnics and restful moments on the various fantastic open spaces. The City of Ely never closes, never switches off but there is definitely a gear shift when Spring comes back.

We’ve been busy behind the scenes here at Visit Ely – when we last sat down to write a blog we’d just taken delivery of our Visitor Guide 2022 which has been a huge hit amongst visitors, local residents and more. It’s a brilliant “One Stop” for making any trip to Ely, be it a day, a weekend or a week, filled to the brim with fabulous fun. However, we haven’t stopped there, no! We’ve been working with a local design agency Studio Nova, based in Ely and actually just over the road from our offices, to build and launch a brand-new Visit Ely website – mobile responsive, user friendly and vibrant. Offering anyone the chance to look and to cement their decision to Visit Ely! In fact, you’ll be viewing this on article on that new website!

We’re really very pleased with the new website, and we hope you’re enjoying exploring it!

When not discussing colours, images, copy and code, we’ve been busily planning the once in a lifetime Platinum Jubilee event here in Ely. From the fun bits like looking over all the brilliant food, produce and craft traders who will be joining us on the 3rd June to working with local groups and organisations to get the Eel Parade moving through the city for the first time in three years. There is also the more boring but still incredibly important bits such as Road closures, safety planning and organising our incredible team of staff and volunteers.

Even when we’re doing the less than exciting bits, we’re still filled with excitement about the upcoming events and everything that will be involved. From the lighting of the beacon on St Mary’s Green in conjunction with the rest of the Commonwealth, to spending the day watching hundreds of people celebrating by the magnificent Ely Riverside.

There will be more on this in upcoming articles, so do keep checking back for updates on Eels, Monarchs and more!
