What a year 2025 has been! Whether you are a visitor or a resident of our glorious city, Visit Ely, on behalf of the City of Ely Council welcomes you to make more amazing memories for 2026.
Over the past year, we’ve celebrated our annual events, embraced our rich history, admired our medieval buildings and relaxed in Ely’s many open spaces. The Eel Festival is a ‘kick-start’ of the season and 2025. We are so very proud of Ely’s very own ‘unique’ bank holiday weekend celebrations! Our one-off event draws in huge numbers to the area to enjoy local history, tradition, entertainment, food, craft and drink.
We celebrated VE and VJ Day with true honour and respect, marking the occasion with Armed Forces Celebrations, services, beacon lightings and thanksgiving. Our Apple Day has grown and grown and now a two-day event, which has not only evolved to celebrating the apple, but the local fen harvest, with food and drink producers showcasing their unique products. All these events truly boost our local visitor economy and footfall, creating a real buzz in Ely, and one we intend to build on.
All the above, and so much more, could not have been possible without the help of the Visit Ely team based at our Tourist Information Centre at Oliver Cromwell’s House. Their hard work, commitment and dedication to the service is truly commendable.
As we journey into a brand-new year, our intentions are to build on what we have achieved, focus on our visitors and enter a new phase of partnership with other destinations, Collaboratively, this will improve our service, assist us with growth, and really make 2026 a year to remember.
Overall, it’s been a fantastic year! Ely’s events have brought people together, created lasting memories, and set a high standard for community and celebration. Thank you making it memorable and here’s to many more years ahead. Please join us on our journey through 2026 and make it special.
