Despite the weather, the events team at Visit Ely together with Traders turned out to put on a spectacular day of Apple and Harvest Fun! Over 80 traders pitched up selling the most delicious produce and craft. There was something for everyone, from apple themed bakes and cakes and fudge, autumnal crafts, apple ID, many varieties of apples, juice and ciders were supplied by our sponsor Watergull Orchards. Crowds were queuing at the event before Cllr Phillips, the Mayor and Mrs Mary Rone, Lady Mayoress officially opened the event!
Anna Bennett, Event Manager – Visit Ely said, ‘It’s always a joy to meet all the traders, visitors and community at this particular event. Apple and Harvest Fayre represents a true celebration of local produce, the harvests and the start of the winter months’, we are truly blessed with incredible support, year after year.’
This year, the team worked with Ely Cathedral’s Harvest Festival. The doors were open to our glorious landmarks for free enabling visitors and community to admire the stunning flower and produce displays. We were delighted to welcome Isle ‘Ave a Shanty, Morris Dancers and Spotted in Ely Radio. Poets House sponsored our children’s entertainment area where our traditional ‘longest apple peel’ took place.
There are rumours that the 25th Celebration could be a two-day event for 2025, so please keep your eyes ‘peeled’ for further information. It’s an event not to be missed.
